I wonder where my blanket is. Spring has sprung, the grass has rose. My blanket’s gone, my toes are froze. March has come and while spring is technically coming up quickly, we’re still snowed in. There are some great ways to pass the time when snowed in though and writing is at the top of my list. Start writing something completely new or pick up something you’ve been working on and get down to business. What do you do if you’re snowed in and have writer’s block? Well, there are a number of fun writing games you can play to get those creative juices flowing again. Pull out a dictionary, flip to a random page, close your eyes and put your finger on the page. Whatever word your finger lands on is the word you have to write your story around. You can do this with other books too. Grab a novel, and follow the process. Still stuck? Get a hold of a friend online or on the phone and have them give you the first line to a short story/novel and a genre. Take both of those and let the words flow. Or you can make it a little harder and get them to give you an opening and closing sentence, then write the middle. It sucks being stuck indoors but don’t let that get you down. Take advantage of it and find your muse.
